IPL5: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Scott-Lehmann-c52487 pleased with Deccan Chargers bowling – Cricket News Update
Darren Lehmann, head coach of Deccan Chargers, was content with the efforts of his bowlers in the 29th match of the Indian Premier League against Kolkata Knight Riders, at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack,
which the Chargers lost by 5 wickets with one over to spare.
The former Australian cricketer was upbeat about his side’s chances despite their fifth successive loss in the tournament. Lehmann held that bowlers have done their part, even though; they are the weak link
in the side.
Sharing his views at a press conference, Lehmann said, “I was really proud of the way we fought with the ball. The pleasing thing which I love from a young group of players is that we keep fighting, that's
four games in a row we've gone down to the last over.”
Chargers' bowling unit is one of the weakest, if not the weakest, in IPL5. Apart from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409, the South African pacer, no one in the Chargers' bowling unit has the ability to win matches singlehandedly.
However, Lehmann begs to differ and blamed Chargers' batting for the defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders and the team’s current position on IPL5 points table.
The Deccan franchise was restricted to a meagre total of 126 runs for the loss of seven wickets. The 42-year-old believes that his side was some 15-20 runs short in the game.
According to the head coach, Chargers' batting in the last eight overs was the main reason behind the side not scoring in excess of 145. He said, “We were about 15 short with the bat but they bowled well.
We should have made about 145. I think we lost five for 40 in the last eight overs when we were two down.”
Deccan Chargers are placed at the bottom of the table and are yet to register a win but Lehmann is positive that the side will get back to winning ways, given they execute their plans properly.
“For me it's just about getting some facets of our game right. Ticking off the boxes in the middle order, holding our catches and bowling like we did tonight. If we do that, we'll win games,” said Lehmann.
