IPL5: Deccan Chargers hopeful of making the last four, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409 – Cricket News Update
Deccan Chargers' pacer, Dale Steyn, is upbeat about his side’s chances in the ongoing Indian Premier League's fifth season, despite them being placed at the bottom of the table. The South African international is hopeful that Chargers
will make it through to the play-offs of IPL5.
Steyn admitted that Chargers have let themselves down in the tournament with some lacklustre performances. However, the Proteas speedster remained optimistic and believes that all is not lost for Chargers and they can still reach
the final four, considering they lift their game.
Spurring Chargers to start winning matches, Steyn said, “There is nothing we can do about it. There may be different logics and a lot of if and buts. But the fact is we have to lift ourselves from here on. There are no two ways
about it. That's the reality. We are positive and the atmosphere is good enough for the team to make a winning comeback. We are very hopeful of making the last four.”
Deccan Chargers, led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779, have suffered five consecutive defeats in IPL5 and are yet to win a match. The former champions have just managed only a single point from six games and that courtesy of an abandoned match,
due to rain, against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, April 24.
Even though Chargers as a unit have underperformed but Steyn, on his own, has maintained the standards that he is known for. The pacer has notched 9 wickets at 13.77 apiece from five games and his economy rate of 6.30 is quite
cheap considering the format.
The number one bowler in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test rankings has shown that bowlers can still play a big role in Twenty20 despite it being considered as a batsmen game.
Steyn said that bowlers have evolved and are now much smarter than they were. The Proteas international held that it’s all about doing the basics right, no matter what format it is.
He said, “It's cricket after all. The approach here (in a Twenty20) game may vary. But the bowlers are doing a very good job in the game dominated by the batters. They are smart enough now.”
