Delhi Daredevils' coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eric-Owen-Simons-c56137, was upbeat regarding his side's chances in the Indian Premier League season five, despite having limited options at his disposal. The coach wants his side to stay calm and peak at the right time, even if they lose at
the start of the tournament.
Hoping to pick the pace as the tournament progresses, Simons said, “The IPL is not a sprint. It's like a marathon in some respects. You have to peak at the right time. I hope that's going to happen.”
Daredevils do not have the luxury of a big squad as some other franchises of the IPL do, and a further blow has been that some prominent figures within their ranks won’t be available for selection, as they have to meet certain commitments.
Simons is well aware of the fact that the Daredevils do not have a full strength squad for the initial phase of the IPL, but he knows that as the tournament progresses, more players will be available for selection.
The likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 will not be available for the Daredevils in the opening match of the tournament.
Simons knew that Pietersen and Jayawardene will miss the start of the IPL but he was expecting Taylor to join the squad. The coach however, was disappointed when he learnt that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 has picked up an injury and will not feature in the event.
