IPL5: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Faf-du-Plessis-c1427 thrilled with the win over Royal Challengers Bangalore – Cricket News Update
Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions of the Indian Premier League pulled-off an amazing win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 13th game of the tournament played at the MA Chidambaram
Stadium, Chepauk on Thursday, April 12, 2012.
RCB had the upper hand until the 18th over of the Chennai innings. The hosts were in a precarious situation and required 43 runs from 12 deliveries to win the match, which they eventually achieved on the final delivery.
Faf du Plessis, the South African cricketer, was thrilled with the five wicket win over RCB. The Proteas international was adjudged the Player of the Match for his astonishing knock, which lasted 46 deliveries and fetched 71 runs, which included five 4’s
and four 6’s.
Du Plessis, during the post-match presentation, said, “To be part of a match like that, I don't think I have ever been like that. I am super excited. To get those 45 runs or something in last two overs, I said it's going to take some supernatural.”
It was a high scoring fixture at Chennai, with both teams scoring in excess of 200. RCB opted to bat first, and posted an imposing total of 205 runs but CSK chased down the target.
Du Plessis held that CSK were always in with a chance, even when chasing big totals, as they have a very sound batting attack and they also bat deep.
“I think the special thing with our batting line up is that we bat so deep,” said the South African. “Suresh comes in and he strikes the ball for fours and sixes and then Dhoni walks in and hits sixes.”
Du Plessis’ compatriot http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737, which eased the pressure in the final over.
Du Plessis hoped that the win over RCB will turn things around for CSK. He said, “We were down and out. Hopefully that will be the turnaround of the season. We actually said this is going to be turning point. It will give us massive confidence in the games
to come.”
