IPL5: Failure to execute plans led to Deccan’s debacle admits http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Scott-Lehmann-c52487 – Cricket News Update
Dejected with his team’s performance in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL5), Deccan Chargers’ head coach, Darren Lehmann, said that failure to execute plans on the field led to the team’s debacle.
Lehmann held that Chargers had opportunities to win games, but they threw them away by making basic mistakes.
Hoping that players will not repeat such fundamental errors in future, Lehmann said, “We haven't executed our plans well. We have missed a lot of opportunities when we should have taken them. It's about getting our basics right
and that's what we have to do better.”
Deccan Chargers, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 based franchise, are languishing at the bottom of the IPL points table. The Champions of IPL season 2 just managed to win two games from fourteen matches that they have played so far in the tournament.
Deccan took some games down to the last over, only to come out second best. Chargers’ have a young squad and they failed to cope with pressure situations. Lehmann reckons that this season has been a great learning phase for the
youngsters and hoped that they will improve their performance with the experience they have gained.
He said, “Younger guys are learning, the more experience they get the better they become in those situations. As long as they learn from their mistakes as a coach I'm happy.”
Lehmann, the former Australian cricketer, rubbished the talks that Chargers did not put enough effort. The 42–year-old claimed that his men worked harder than any other team and he was content with their efforts.
Lehmann also came to the defence of Deccan Chargers' skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779, who has had a miserable tournament with the bat. The Australian termed Sangakkara a class act and backed him to regain form and score loads of runs.
“He's our captain and he has done a wonderful job behind the scenes. Obviously he would have liked more runs but we have a special man, who looks after all the players. I'm sure he'll turn his form around in the near future,” said
the 42-year-old.
