IPL5: Gambhir slams his side’s  poor batting – Cricket News Update
The Kolkata Knight Riders' captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, has blamed the batting of the Kolkata Knight Riders for the team’s second successive defeat in the ongoing season five of the lucrative Indian Premier League.
The Shah Rukh Khan-owned IPL franchise fell cheaply against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals in their second IPL5 fixture, seventh overall, played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur yesterday April 8, 2012. After restricting the hosts to 164 for 5 in the allotted
quota of 20 overs, the Knight Riders failed to chase down the gettable target, as wickets kept clattering at regular intervals. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-c1888 Tiwary’s painstaking half century was not enough to seal the deal, as the tourists lost the match by 22 runs.
While speaking to media reporters after the match, the Knight Riders' skipper expressed his satisfaction over the performance of the bowlers, however, he was not happy with the way his batsmen threw away their wickets on the batting friendly Jaipur wicket.
"We lost three quick wickets and thereafter we could not recover. It was a good job by the bowlers but with this kind of batting we don't deserve to win," said Gambhir at the post-match press conference.
"It was a good wicket to bat on. Jaipur wicket has always been good for batting. It was not like that we could not adjust to the pace of the wicket. We have played a lot of cricket and know how to adjust to the conditions," he added further.
This was KKR’s second successive defeat of the season but the stylish Indian opener did hint they are not going to press the panic button just yet.
"Two back-to-back defeats cannot lead to pressing the panic button for us and still we have to play 14 matches. So two defeats don't matter much," said the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 lad when asked what could motivate the Knight Riders to bounce back.
The 30-year-old KKR skipper, who fell for a duck yesterday, said that he has got an experienced squad at his disposal that needs a victory to get back to winning ways.
The Knight Riders play the Royal Challengers Bangalore next at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on April 10.
