IPL5: Ganguly credits bowlers for emphatic win over Chennai – Cricket News Update
The captain of the Pune Warriors India, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746, lauded the clinical performance of his bowlers, as they outclassed the defending champions, the Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets in an enthralling IPL5 fixture played at
the Subrata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611 Sahara Stadium, Pune on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
Although it was the Jesse Ryder-led Pune batting line-up that kept their nerves and took the side home with seven wickets and four balls to spare, Dhoni feels that the bowlers had laid the foundation for an emphatic win by restricting
the star studded CSK batting line up to 155 for 5 in their quota of 20 overs.
Speaking to media reporters after the match, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LN-Onyango-c1844 said that he was expecting Dhoni’s men to set a target between 165-170 runs but the bowlers did a splendid job and restricted the opposition to a gettable total.
“I am really happy with the way our bowlers bowled,” said Ganguly, a former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 skipper, at the post match press conference.
“At one stage, I was thinking that Chennai would post a total of around 165-170. But Ashish (Nehra) and (Ashok) Dinda came back and bowled superbly,” he added further.
Ganguly, who has been handed the captaincy of the Warriors in the absence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364, also hailed the spinners.
“The spinners also did a good job. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804 were excellent when they bowled in the death overs,” said the home skipper.
The 39-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 left-hander, who captained the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first three editions of the esteemed Twenty20 league also lauded the newly constructed Subrata stadium.
“It was an exciting contest on a great pitch. It is a new stadium and it was a fantastic win,” said Dada. “Chennai Super Kings are a strong team and a tough team… When you win against them, it feels good,” he added further.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861, who finished second last in the 2011 season with four wins in 14 games, currently sit second in the IPL5 points table with three victories in four outings so far.
