IPL5: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 willing to bat at number three for Kolkata Knight Riders cause – Cricket News Update
Gautam Gambhir, skipper Kolkata Knight Riders, has said that he is willing to go down the pecking order and bat at number three if the team requires him to do so.
The left-handed opening batsman held that no one in the KKR roster is above the team and the decision, of who bats when and where, will be taken according to demands of the situation.
The helm of KKR warned his players that there is no place in the squad for individuals as it is a team game and the team’s focus is on one thing only and that is winning.
While talking to media personals in a promotional event, Gambhir said, “Knight Riders is not just my team it is all about 23 players. What I think is best eleven and is the best batting order. In the first two matches I thought
I needed to go and bat at number three and after that there was a need to open the innings. I will again go back to number three if needed. There is no place for individuals in the team and it is all about winning.”
Gambhir, who was part of Indian team that lifted the 2011 World Cup trophy, has found his lost touch while batting at the top of the order. The skipper of KKR had batted at number three in first two games of KKR’s IPL5 campaign.
Since returning to his original position, the left-hander has scored 163 runs from four innings which also include two half-centuries. But despite the success, Gambhir is selflessly ready to move down the batting order so as to
strengthen KKR’s middle order, which has been shaky in the tournament so far.
Kolkata Knight Riders have had a mixed IPL5 season. The franchise co-owned by Bollywood King, Shahrukh http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, has won three matches while suffering three defeats as well.
Batting has been the biggest let down for KKR, as bowlers have created chances for them but the batsmen haven’t been able to capitalize.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-Pathan-c1601, is yet to get off his strides. One after the other, failures have followed Pathan, but Gambhir still hasn’t lost his faith in the Punjabi lad.
He said, “Only six matches have been held now. I think Yusuf only needs one match to turn things around. I have full faith in him and all the 23 players.”
