The Delhi Daredevils' top-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 on Wednesday expressed his disappointment at the fact that he will not be able to play the full IPL season once again this year.
The 31-year-old South Africa-born England batsman has a slim chance of being picked in the Delhi squad after the explosive http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 playing a three-match Test series
against the Caribbean side and the tour will conclude on April 27, 2012.
The right-handed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 batsman said that he would have loved to play a full season for the Daredevils.
“I think I've only got to play seven or eight games unfortunately this season which is a big, big pity; I would love to play a full season of the IPL,” said the hard-hitting top order batsman during an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN.
The Natal-born right-hander was earlier part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and had captained the side for a few games in the second season in 2009. In the 2011 edition, KP was acquired by the Deccan Chargers during the players’ auction but he
missed the entire season due to his recovery from a hernia operation.
Pietersen switched teams from the Deccan Chargers to the Delhi Daredevils during the transfer window earlier in January this year. He was bought by the Daredevils for two million US dollars. However, he missed Delhi’s opening two games as he was playing
a two-match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 which concluded over the weekend. The right-hander has made a startling start to the current IPL season, and he scored a match winning unbeaten 43 against the Chennai Super Kings at home on Tuesday.
Satisfied with his blistering knock in the opening game for the Daredevils, KP said that there is still a long way to go.
“You starting on naught and you've got the weight of expectation; you've got 45,000 Delhi fans wanting you to do well,” said the right-hander. “We want to do well for the fans, we want to win the game but experience simplifies things for us. I think we did
a good job yesterday but that's only one game. We've got a long way to go,” he added further.
Delhi Daredevils will play the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians next on April 16.
