IPL5: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 bat – Cricket News Update
The English prodigy, Kevin Pietersen, has said that he loves to watch the Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene bat.
The Englishman and the Lankan were playing against each other during the recently concluded Test series, but both of them are now part of the Delhi Daredevils in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League.
Pietersen admitted that during England’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, he wanted to see the back of Jayawardene as early as possible but now things are different, and he wishes that the batter plays long innings.
KP said, “We were opponents till Saturday. Hated to watch him bat in Sri Lanka but loved it now.”
Pietersen and Jayawardene dovetailed perfectly in the 11th game of the IPL, which was against the defending champions, the Chennai Super Kings. The unbeaten stand of 61 runs between KP and Jayawardene inspired http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 to an eight wicket win over
CSK. CSK batted first and posted a mediocre total of 110 runs.
Pietersen hailed the DD bowlers for the win. The English cricketer was full of praise for the bowling attack; however, he was a bit surprised when the ball was thrown his way by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, the skipper of the Delhi Daredevils.
He said, “Surprised to get a chance to bowl. Left arm spinner Nadeem was amazing, he's my favourite now. Nadeem was brilliant, Morne started and finished well and Umesh was good too.”
Jayawardene, the Sri Lankan captain believes that the difference between the two sides was the fielding. Daredevils were agile and produced a number of run-outs which helped their cause.
The Lankan international is happy to play the secondary role for the DD while the likes of Pietersen and Sehwag go on the hunt for runs.
He said, “I don't have to do much when there are guys like Sehwag and Pietersen. The support was great, the fielding was excellent and the crowd backed us. The wicket was 2 paced but our bowlers stuck to our plans. We created a couple of run outs and that
made all the difference.”
The Delhi Daredevils lost their second game but are back on track with the win and hope to continue in the same vein when they take on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Wankhede Stadium.
