IPL5: Kolkata Knight Riders coach hints at a change in line-up – Cricket News Update
Kolkata Knight Riders' coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
Bayliss did not point out exactly what changes will take place, but since the coach seemed content with KKR’s bowling in the tournament, it is assumed that the batting order will see some fresh faces coming in.
Speaking to media personals on the eve of the match against Punjab, Bayliss said, “I haven't seen the wicket here. Last game that was played here, we watched it on TV and the wicket was different than what we got in Kolkata. We
will sit down tonight or early tomorrow morning and discuss. But there is a possibility of some change. I cannot say where that will be (whether middle order or somewhere else), but we will have to discuss.”
KKR has one of the strongest batting units in this edition of IPL but so far they have not performed to their expectations. The big guns of Kolkata Knight Riders, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c2492 and
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-Tiwary-c1890 have all been short of runs and this has reflected badly on KKR’s performance in the tournament.
Pathan has been the biggest disappointment from the lot. The explosive middle-order batsman has just scored 23 runs from five innings. However, despite Pathan’s recent failures, Bayliss has not lost faith in him and backed the
batsman to regain his lost form.
Kolkata have lost three of their five fixtures and have only once crossed the 160-run mark - against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 10th match of IPL.
In comparison KKR bowling contingent that is not as highly rated as the batting roster, has put up a good show. Bowlers have been quite economical and have given the side every chance to win, but it has been the batsmen who have
failed to seize the opportunities.
Bayliss believes that if batsmen start supporting the bowlers, KKR will become a force to reckon with.
He said, “I don't think we batted anywhere near our best. Bangalore was our best effort with the bat. If we could bat more like that in the competition, we are going to be difficult to beat.”
