IPL5: Kolkata Knight Riders facing Pune Warriors is just another game of cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 – Cricket News Update
Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper, Gautam Gambhir, has cleared that Saturday’s match against Pune Warriors, at the Eden Gardens, is just another game of cricket between two sides.
The 47th clash of Indian Premier League (IPL5) has been the centre of attention because it will mark the return of Kolkata’s favourite son and iconic cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861.
Gambhir asserts that KKR is looking to subdue the whole Pune Warriors team and will not target any individual even Ganguly, the left-handed batter who captained the Knight Riders in the first season of IPL, in this regard.
Speaking to media personals at a press conference, Gambhir said, “It's just the media that is creating the hype. For me, it's just another game of cricket. Sourav is an individual. We are playing against the Pune Warriors, and
not against Sourav Ganguly.”
Gambhir also played-off Wasim Akram’s, KKR bowling coach, remarks, in which he compared Saturday’s game to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750-Pakistan clash. The left-hander held that Indo-Pak rivalry is something special and the match against Pune is not
off the same level.
He said, “That's his (Akram's) view of looking at Saturday's game. We are playing against the Pune Warriors and there is no such rivalry as against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. India and Pakistan is a completely different ball game.”
Ganguly has always been a fan favourite in Kolkata. The 39-year-old will be returning to the Eden Gardens after nearly a year since becoming a member of the Warriors’ camp in 2011.
The cricketer, also known as Prince of Calcutta, will certainly have the backing of fans when he comes out to play. Gambhir and his men may find a shift in loyalties of supporters.
Nonetheless, Gambhir is intent on winning the game with or without the support. He said, “Whoever Kolkata wants to support, they are free to support. We always play for the pride of Kolkata. We will always do that, whether we get
the support or not.”
The match holds a lot of importance for both teams. A win for Pune will see them jump three places to fifth spot in the IPL points table, while a KKR win will strengthen their chances of making it to play-offs.
