IPL5: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779 wants to subdue Mumbai Indians – Cricket News Update
Kumar Sangakkara, skipper Deccan Chargers, is hopeful that his side will be able to subdue Mumbai Indians, one of the richest franchises in IPL5, when both sides collide in their next fixture on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Wankhede.
Mumbai Indians have had a mixed tournament so far. The team, led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453, has lost four matches from a total of eight played, and are placed seventh on the points table.
Chargers, on the other hand, are not very well-off themselves. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792 based franchise is at the bottom of the table with a solitary win from seven games.
Chargers’ one-off win came against Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 on Thursday, April 26 and Sangakkara is confident that his side will build on it.
However, the Sri Lankan international has warned his team-mates not to take MI lightly, as they are jammed packed with quality players.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Sangakkara said, “We know how good a side http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 is. We beat Pune and hope to keep the momentum going. In T20, it is just about playing the best cricket on the day. We are trying to be
calm on the field and ensure we keep getting into the winning positions. We need to concentrate a lot harder on those crucial moments”
Chargers have some unfinished business with Mumbai Indiansas Sangakkara and his men suffered a 5-wicket defeat at the hands of MI in the 9th game of the Indian Premier League.
The Deccan franchise took the game to the last over, only to come out second best. Sangakkara is positive that if such a situation arises again in Sunday’s game, it will be Deccan, which will emerge victorious.
He said, “We came close to beating Mumbai in our first game which we probably should have won. They needed 18 in the last over and Rohit (Sharma) was brilliant in that over. If we get them into such positions, we have to be tighter
and bit more disciplined.”
A win for Chargers will keep their hopes of reaching the final four alive. At present it is not known exactly how many matches they need to win in order to qualify but Sangakkara and his men are determined to win every game that
comes their way.
