IPL5: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746’s spirit – Cricket News Update
Murali Kartik, the left-arm orthodox spinner from Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861, hailed the spirit of his skipper Sourav Ganguly, who put up a stupendous performance in the match against Delhi Daredevils, played at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi,
on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
Kartik admired the energy level that Ganguly showed on the pitch. The 35-year-old was happy to see his skipper return to form not with just the bat but with the ball too.
Ganguly, the 39-year-old cricketer from Calcutta, outperformed all the young guns in his side. The Prince of Calcutta struck 41 runs with the bat which propelled Pune Warriors to a humongous total of 192. But the most valuable
contribution from the former Indian captain was with the ball.
Ganguly picked the wickets of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 and those two wickets changed the complexion of the game altogether. The medium pacer also kept a check at the opposition's scoring rate by maintaining an economy rate
of 6.75.
Speaking highly of Ganguly, Kartik said, “You know those two guys (Pathan and Pietersen) were crucial. The fact that Dada got Pietersen was really good for us. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LN-Onyango-c1844 has always been a man who has a great spirit for the game. He
has been trying to find form and the fact that he came good not only with the bat but also with the ball was great.”
Kartik also did his side a valuable service when he saw the back of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils. Sehwag (57) looked at his optimum best in the game as he was scoring runs at will. Had the basher stayed for
a few more overs, it would have been curtains for Pune Warriors but Kartik dismissed him before he could seal the fate of the match.
The left-arm spinner had a plan against Sehwag, which he executed with perfection. Kartik said, “Sehwag has been a free spirit always so you know you are going to get it from him but you need to find ways of getting his wicket.
If you try and stop Sehwag you are never going to be successful against him.”
