After opting to bat first, the hosts got off to a tumultuous start, losing explosive opener Jesse Ryder to Irfan Pathan on the second ball of the day, without a score on the board. Morne Morkel struck on the second ball of the next over to send Sourav Ganguly
packing, having him caught by Shahzad Nadeem at third man, to leave the hosts 1 for 2 on the board.
After Ganguly’s dismissal, wicketkeeper batsman Robin Uthappa came to the crease and in partnership with Ryder’s opening partner, Manish Pandey, the duo further stepped up the scoring rate. Playing aggressively, the pair proved unstoppable as they struck
sensational shots all over the turf to leave Delhi fielders in utter disbelief.
Manish Pandey returned unbeaten at 56-ball 80, including seven fours and three sixes, while Uthappa scored cautious 60 off 58 deliveries as the Warriors amassed 146 runs in their allotted quota of 20 overs.
