The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s skipper, Daniel Vettori, will focus on compatriot Brendon McCullum when his side plays the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 10th match of the ongoing latest edition of the Indian Premier League, at the M Chinnaswamy
Stadium today, April 10, 2012.
Speaking to media reporters at the pre-match press conference on Monday, Vettori, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 skipper, said that McCullum is a destructive batsman who can single-handedly take the game away from any opposition, on his day.
"I know how destructive he can be and how he can take the game away from us quickly,” said Daniel Vettori regarding his compatriot Brendon McCullum on the eve of the match.
“He is incredibly dangerous and good player, so we are going to stop him at top of the order. We did that last year when he played for Kochi. Hopefully, we will do the same this year," the New Zealander added further.
The Bangalore skipper was also hopeful that the explosive Caribbean opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 will be completely fit for Tuesday’s match.
"He is running and batting the whole time so we are confident he will be in the side tomorrow," said the New Zealander when asked about the aggressive http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 opener, who was a late inclusion in the RCB squad last season, and missed the opening game
of the ongoing season against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils due to a groin injury.
Replying to a query regarding his side’s batting, Vettori said that his prime focus would be to ensure that he best utilizes the former Sri Lankan spin wizard, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Muralitharan-c1864.
"Murali is the best bowler of all time,” said Vettori, who will compliment the Sri Lankan in slow bowling. “He is a wicket-taker and a strike bowler…the best guy to throw the ball to when you need a wicket," he added further.
The hosts go into the match at the back of a comfortable 20-run win over the Delhi Daredevils, while KKR, who finished fourth last year, have lost both their opening games this season. Murali played a key role in RCB’s 20-run win in the opener as he returned
with figures of 3 for 25 in four overs.
