IPL5: Return of Mahela Jayawardene and Kevin Pietersen will strengthen Daredevils squad reckons Virender Sehwag – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806. Delhi Daredevils will benefit from the two star batsmen, held
Sehwag.
Jayawardene, Sri Lankan skipper, and England’s talisman Pietersen missed the first two fixtures due to international commitments. However, the duo is back and raring to make up for the lost time.
Hoping that the two overseas players will make an immediate impact on Daredevils' fortunes, Sehwag said, “Mahela and KP`s return will give a boost to our side. Any captain would love to have them in his side. Lot of young players
are looking forward to share the dressing room with them.”
Delhi started IPL5 with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday, April 5. But they looked below par in their next clash at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which was against Royal Challengers Bangalore and clearly batting was their
weak link.
Pietersen, the Englishman who scored 151 in the recently concluded Test match at Colombo against Sri Lankan, and Jayawardene are in good knick and would like to build on their recent success with the bat.
Jayawardene asserts that as a senior player, he’ll be there to share the burden with Sehwag.
“Both KP and I have the responsibility to help http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HA-Varaiya-c1520 in decision making on and off the field,” he said. “We have good blend of youth and experience in our team and we as senior players just need to guide the youngsters.”
Chennai Super Kings are next in line for the Daredevils. The match against CSK, who are the reigning champions, will be played at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780’s home ground, Feroz Shah Kotla, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. This will be Daredevils' first
home game as the first two fixtures were away.
Delhi’s home record is not something which Sehwag and his men will be proud off. DD have the second worst home record in IPL, after Deccan Chargers. However, with a balanced batting and bowling artillery at his disposal, Sehwag
is confident of a turn around.
He said, “We are looking to start our campaign in Delhi with a win tomorrow.”
