IPL5: Rohit Sharma blames Mumbai Indians’ batting for inconsistent performance – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309, the 25-year-old cricketer, has blamed Mumbai Indians’ batting for the side's inconsistent performance in the Indian Premier League season five.
The right-hander conceded that MI batsmen failed to adapt to conditions and therefore the side has not done as well as it should have. Rohit hailed Mumbai’s bowlers, who have kept the side on the top half despite batsmen faltering
on regular basis.
Admitting the failure of Mumbai’s batting unit, Rohit said, “Obviously, we did not play well as a team. We didn't adapt to the conditions. But being a professional, you have to perform in any given condition. Our batting had simply
failed. Our bowlers have been doing a tremendous job. It's just that we did not do well as a batting unit.”
Mumbai Indians has a star studded batting line-up but it has not yet fired. No batter from MI is amongst the top ten run-getters of IPL5. Sharma is the most consistent batsmen for Mumbai and he too is placed 15th on
the list with 293 runs from 12 matches.
Mumbai’s bowlers, on the other hand, have outperformed their batsmen. There are three bowlers from MI in top-ten wicket takers of the tournament. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540, the MI pacer is placed second on the list and has notched 20 wickets
from nine games.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians, currently on the fourth spot on the points table, are to face Kolkata Knight Riders in their next IPL5 fixture on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
KKR are a team high on confidence. The side has won seven matches on the trot and Saturday’s game will be played at their backyard, Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Rohit knows that KKR will be a tough opposition to beat at home. However, the right-hander remained positive and urged his side to play good cricketer and not care where they stand at the points table.
He said, “It's very important to win every game. It's not going to be easy here. We know what kind of wicket we get here so we have to get our acts together. We know where we stand. The focus is to play some good cricket. If we
play good cricket we will finish up.”
