IPL5: Royal Challengers Bangalore wins a last ball thriller against Pune Warriors – Cricket News Update

Royal Challengers Bangalore are back to their winning ways, as they romped over Pune Warriors in the 21st game of Indian Premier League (IPL5) played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
It was a thriller, which RCB managed to win on the final delivery of their innings while losing four wickets in the process.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221, the West Indian cricketer, once again produced a gem of an innings for RCB that laid the foundation for the hosts, who were chasing a mammoth target of 183 runs. The sturdy West Indian’s 48-ball innings fetched 81
runs and also earned him the Man of the Match award.
Gayle, who hit eight massive sixes in his innings, hoped that the win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 will kick start Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL campaign, as they have been struggling so far in the tournament.
He said, “This win will give us the push in this tournament. There was a lot of pressure and initially I struggled with both Dinda and Nehra bowling in right areas. I looked to accelerate and that big over (13th by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-Sharma-c83352)
that brought us back in the match.”
Despite Gayle’s astonishing innings the match was evenly poised and it took some special efforts from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 (33) that sealed the win for RCB. The duo put on an unbeaten
stand of 59 runs for the fifth wicket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384, skipper Royal Challengers Bangalore, was pleased with the outcome. The New Zealander admitted that RCB were in dire need of a win, as they had suffered three back to back defeats.
Vettori hailed the three batters, who played a key role in the chase. The left-arm spinner believes that the balance of power has shifted in RCB's favour and now there will be more wins to follow.
He said, “We needed this one. We restricted Pune to a score we could chase. In the circumstances, it is a great momentum shift. We try to maintain the team spirit, talk about fielding. Tiwary and AB did well after Gayle's knock.
I think everyone knows how good http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 is, he arguably the best batsman in the world.”
