Continued from Part I...
Top five Emerging players of the season:
There were several players who were playing their maiden IPL season this year and left their marks with some match winning performances for their franchises on more than one occasions. On the top of the list is KKR’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 who
was bought by the franchise for US$ 700,000 at February’s auction. The off-spinner turned out to be his side’s trump card in the tournament. With 24 wickets from 15 games, the mystery bowler went  on to claim the Golden Player of the season accolade.
The other players who made debuts this season and were under the spot-light include Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parvinder-Awana-c80792
of KXIP (17 wickets from 12 games).
Last but not the least was another Australian fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BW-Hilfenhaus-c1204 who was bought by defending champions Chennai Super Kings for US dollar 100,000 last season but missed due to injury. This season he claimed 14 wickets in nine matches at an impressive
average of 16.64 and an astonishing economy rate of 6.85.
Top five flops of the season:
Almost every franchise had at least one big investment which failed to live up to the expectations. Chennai Super Kings paid a whopping $2 million for the likes of Indian all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RA-Jadeja-c2238, who ended up scoring only 191 runs in 19 games. Hence
every run scored by the left-hander cost CSK owners $10,471. His left-arm orthodox spin fetched him 12 wickets at an average of, that’s $166 666 per scalp.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453, who is already facing an exile from the national squad owing to his poor form with ball, was an equal disappointment in the recently concluded IPL-V, in which he could claim only six wickets at an average of 64.00,
probably the highest among all. The beleaguered Indian off-spinner returned wicketless in 11 of 18 matches.
The others who failed to live up to their billing in the esteemed Twenty20 tournament include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 (197 runs in 12 innings at 19.70) and Suarbh Tiwary
of Royal Challengers Bangalore (191 runs from 11 innings at 23.87).
Last ball finishes of the season:
The latest edition of the money spinning Indian Premier League was undoubtedly the most thrilling tournament so far in the history of IPL. The season witnessed 25 games finishing either in the last over or being won by the team batting first with a margin
of less than 10 runs. 19 games were won by the team batting second in the last over, while six games ended in the favour of team batting first with a margin less than 10 runs.
Overall there were seven games in which the chasing side reached the victory line off the last ball. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings did it three times while Mumbai Indians prevailed in the last ball thriller twice. Kings XI Punjab clinched the last
ball victory only once, against Deccan Chargers in the 61st match of the tournament played at their home ground, Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali.
