IPL5: We are not going to take Royals lightly, says Rohit Sharma – Cricket News Update
Rohit Sharma, one of the most consistent Mumbai Indians’ batsman this IPL season, has talked against complacency when playing Rajasthan Royals in the final league fixture of the ongoing fifth instalment of the lucrative Indian Premier League, at their backyard,
Sawai Mansingh Stadium Jaipur, on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
Whilst the Mumbai Indians have already qualified for the IPL-V playoffs, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals have been eliminated from the knock out stage, hence making today’s clash inconsequential.
Sharma however, opined that they will go out all gun all guns blazing against the Royals to sign off the league phase on a high and lift the momentum of the side ahead of the tournament semis, where they will play either Chennai Super Kings or Royal Challengers
Bangalore.
"Some people think that we have not played up to our potential but still we are at number three in the table,” said the 25-year-old right-handed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 batsman, while speaking to media reporters on the eve of the inconsequential IPL fixture.
“Tomorrow is an important match for us. We won't take the Royals, who are out of contention, lightly as we know they would come hard at us because they would be looking to finish on a high," the Mumbai Indians’ middle-order batsman added further.
Harbhajan-led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 with a six-wicket defeat yesterday.
Though they have qualified for the semis, the Mumbai based franchise has been quite inconsistent this season. Mumbai’s batting has been a cause of concern for Harbhajan this season, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 taking the onus of scoring all through
the tournament, with sporadic support from Tendulkar, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KA-Pollard-c1754.
Sharma, however, refused to blame their batting for the inconsistent performance.
"I would not like to blame the batting as it is never easy to score 16 runs in the last over but we have done that quite a few times,” said Sharma, who is the leading run scorer for Mumbai so far this season with a tally of 419 runs from 15 innings, including
a whirlwind century against Knight Riders.
