IPL5: We did not execute our plans well, says Rahul Dravid – Cricket News Update
Rajasthan Royals' skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229, rued the 46-run defeat in the 30th match of Indian Premier League played against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday, April 23, 2012.
Failure to execute plans properly led to Rajasthan’s demise, held Dravid. The skipper of RR was not happy with the bowling in the final five overs of the innings, which cost the team 82 runs and powered RCB to a gigantic total
of 189.
Dravid at the match presentation said, “We did not execute our plans well, especially death bowling. The death bowling has been an area of concern. The last five overs made the difference. Dilshan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 played really well in that
period. When you give 82 runs in the last five, you can't expect to win.”
Chasing an enormous target of 190 runs, Rajasthan Royals made an impressive start with Dravid and AM Rahane, amassing 56 runs for the opening wicket. Dravid was in supreme form and the ball was coming off his bat nicely but the
great Indian cricketer failed to inspire his side to victory.
Lamenting the loss, Dravid said, “I've been hitting some good shots but its important to get the right result as well. Only wins excite me, not so much about my batting. Hopefully we will win the next game.”
Dravid, who had scored 58 runs from 42 deliveries, did not receive much support from the other end and the next top scorer from Rajasthan Royals was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Binny-c2589, who had 20 runs to his name.
Dravid praised http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Appanna-c1805, the RCB spinner who made things difficult for RR batsmen. Appanna took four wickets in the match, which included the prized scalp of Dravid.
Acknowledging the left-arm spinner for making the most of the spinning track, Dravid said, “Appanna bowled well, he had the backing of a lot of runs behind him. He spun the ball, it's good for his confidence.”
