IPL5: Zaheer Khan aims to pick wickets to halt oppositions from scoring freely– Cricket News Update
The pace spearhead of the Indian cricket team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379, has devised a strategy to stop opposing teams from scoring freely and to pick wickets at any stage of the match.
The left-armer, who is representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL5, noted that taking wickets every now and then is the only one way to halt teams from running away with the game.
Zaheer said, “I like to keep things simple in any format of the game. As a bowler my look out will be to take wickets at any stage of the game. It helps restrict opponents from scoring at a brisk pace.”
Twenty20 is predominately a batsmen game. There are short boundaries and the freedom to play shots without the fear of losing their wicket, but that said bowlers still play a clinical role in deciding the fate of the matches.
A bowler conceding few runs and picking up wickets during a decisive phase is always welcomed by a team and this is exactly what Zaheer has in mind. He said, “No doubt that lot of credit goes to batsmen with the kind of format and wicket you play on. It
becomes crucial for bowlers to perform and take it as a challenge.”
The left-arm pacer has received his due share of breaks, after the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
Zaheer hailed the decision of the BCCI and in his time off from international duty, he worked hard on his fitness. The 33-year-old enjoyed the rest and is raring for some action presently.
He said, “It's been a good time off for me. I could work out bits and pieces here on whatever niggles I have. I am looking forward to the grinding at this year's IPL. I just started to bowl a week back, just bending it slowly.”
Zaheer will get the action that he has been waiting for when the Royal Challengers Bangalore meet the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, April 7, 2012.
