  1. I don't know about plugging it in to a radio or tv but I know my fiancee can plug it in to a cd player so it can record that cd so maybe you can plug it into a radio and it may just record what is on the radio at that time. We have MP3 players instead of IPOD's. We liked them better and they were way cheaper and had some of the same functions as the IPOD's but either more or less than them. Hope this helps some.

  2. No. At this point you might as well buy an IPhone. The IPod has everything but internet  and a cell phone. You might as well spend the extra dough and get the phone. It will be the best $400 you ever spent, trust me!

  3. ok.. umm. i got my ipod last christmas. and it is awesome. i carry it around everywhere. and i use it all the time. im always downloading new songs to it. and ipod is one of the best things ever made if you are really into music.

  4. no they aren't worth it... why is this in the radio section?

  5. iPods are great, and I have one, but they are not for everyone. They are pretty simple to use, have a LOT of storage for a pretty good price, and can play videos and stuff. The downsides to them are that they do not come with anything to plug it into your car (you can buy one, but last time I checked, the only one was about $90) and there is no radio. The storage for iPods are 4g ($149) or 8g ($200) for a nano, 80g ($250) or 160g ($350) for a classic and 8g ($300) or 16g ($400) for an iPod touch. One gig holds roughly 240 songs. The iPod touch has an excellent new feature: you can buy songs right from the iPod itself, no need to find a computer, buy it, and transfer it.

The Zune is a good choice to, with a nice big screen for watching movies if that's something you'd like to do with your music player, and the high-capacity Zunes have better colors. Wiki claims there is an 80g model of the Zune out, but the Zunes official site says nothing about it; only showing a 30g Zune for $200.

The Gremlin isn't well known, but I thought I'd throw it in since it's comparable to the iPod touch but slightly less expensive. It's an ugly, awkward looking little thing with a small screen, but if you really really want to buy music on the go and money's an issue, this is probably the best one. 8g for $250, $50 less than the iPod touch 8g. It can't play videos, but it does have an FM radio built in.

    Hope that helps!

    -EDIT-

I also just wanted to say, I doubt there is anything on the market to pirate music so easily, because it's illegal. If you have a lot of friends with Zunes, that's probably as close as it gets.

  6. Yeah they if You extend your memory to more than 4GB.

  7. Get satellite radio with one of the portable radios (Sirius: s50, Stiletto100 or Stiletto2, XM: Nexus, Helix, Inno), and you can record from the radio and then take the recordings with you on the go.

  8. YES!! i have an ipod video, 30 GB, and don't know how i would live without it!! they are sooo worth it!!

  9. ttly u i ddnt rly think so until i had 1, then a couple years ago i washed my old ipod and then i rly knew how much i needid 1

  10. umm i dont know about the plug in thing but the ipod changed my life....itz great for trips just to keep in ur purse for in the car and partys so u can listen to ur kind of music w/ friends and it has awesome games and u can store pictures so itz great!WORTH IT!

  11. nooo get a zune you can wireless send songs to your friends if your around each other no internet connection required they hold alot more songs per dollar as well there great

  12. They r worth it.  You can put podcasts, mp3's, convert audio w iTunes automatically(avi,mp4,etc), it small, lightweight, better quality, comes w/eq.

As for the recording part, can't help there.  You could get verizon, get the free phone software using ur phone that recognizes songs by putting the mic of the phone near the speaker with the song.  Then download it (ur song)
