IPhone 3G Maps & Countries Question?

In the new iPhone 3G, will the Maps.app and the GPS work in all the countries the iPhone is now available in? Or will it work just in the USA?

Actually, it should work even in the countries that don't have the iPhone.

This is because the iPhone doesn't store maps on the phone (at least permanently). It accesses Google's database. And since you can see other countries on Google Maps, then it should be on the iPhone (most of the time...Google uses a different database for mobile access).
