Question:

IPhone 3G and O2 Tariffs - Need Help!?

I am currently with O2 on Pay and Go, but I would really like to get the iPhone 3G.

I know that O2 will be selling the O2 handset with a Pay and Go option at the end of the year.

If I get an iPhone 3G, I would preferably like the 16GB version.

I would like to know whether I would get more from a £30 per month tariff, or about £15 per month on pay and go.

I would like to use all of the features that the iPhone 3G has to offer, including wi-fi, GPS, 3G, receive e mails, etc.

  1. It depends if you factor in the initial cost of the phone (£379 I think). If the PAYG tariff is similar to those currently on offer, then you could probably get more minutes and texts on PAYG for £15 although O2 is not the best network in this regard, so you might want to sit down with a calculator when the phone comes out and check. However, if you divide the initial cost of the phone by the length of a typical contract, then I would suggest it is likely that the total cost will be higher than the cost of the cheapest contract. Sorry I can't be more specific, but it depends on the PAYG cost of the phone, which I suspect may be different to those already on offer, so you may unfortunately just have to wait and see.

  2. you have a few options, 1. you can buy the iphone pay as you go for £350+ and then use a sim card which sits with your 02 vodaphone orange etc simcard, this unlocks the network.

option 2. is like me and quiet a few of my college friends have done is get a free iphone 3g pay as you go on pre order. just waiting for them to be released now :D.

we know it works too as we have had an ipod touch from the same place before.
