IPhone 3G crashes computer during sync?

My Apple iPhone 3G crashes my computer when I plug it in to sync with iTunes, but only when there are photos in the Camera Roll. My Dell laptop thinks there is a camera attached. Deleting the pictures prevents the crash.

Do you have the latest version of iTunes?  Make sure that's up to date.  That's the only thing I can think of.
