Question:

IPhone Airplane Mode weird pop-up?

I have a 1st generation iPhone and for the past two days I have been receiving a strange pop-up whenever I try to access any part of the services (SMS, Email, Pictures, Safari, etc.) The message is as follows:

AIRPLANE MODE

This accessory is not made to work with iPhone. Would you like to turn on this feature to reduce audio interference? You will not be able to make or receive calls while this is turned on.

I have not dropped my phone, it has not been exposed to any heat or cold and nothing unusual happened that I can think of. I have rebooted the phone, checked to make sure the Airplane Mode is on OFF (it is) and even flipped it on and then off to see if it would stop. It doesn't.

I have now noticed that my phone will be sitting on my desk and out of nowhere the screen will turn on to give me this error message and I haven't done anything.

Does anyone know of any patches or a fix for this? If I have to return the phone can I do so without the box and receipt? It was a XMas gift last year. Thank you for your help!

  1. go through your settings and turn it off. you know when your in an airplane you have to have your mobiles switched off well airplane mode means your mobile transmiter is turned off but u can still play on ur phone x

  2. If you are plugged into anything like a charger, or stereo, then it may pop up, but it shouldn't do it when it is just sitting there.  I would make sure you have the most recent software on it right now.  If so, and it keeps doing this, then go to the apple store and see if they can fix it.  you might even score a new iphone 3g out of the deal.

  3. Whats airplane mode?

  4. not sure
