IPhone Help? 10 Pts?

I have the original iphone that came out last year and for some reason the top row on the home screen isnt working. When I press it nothing happens and I cant even go on the internet. What should I do? Best Answer gets 10 pts

first, restart it by pressing the top button and the home screen button at the same time. hold down until u see apple sign. it that doesnt work, try restoring your iphone. plug it into itunes and click the restore button to restore its origional settings. dont forget to back it up first though
