Question:

IPhone battery help?

I got a 3G iPhone a couple of weeks and and the battery goes down so quickly I'm starting to wonder if there's a problem with my actual phone. For instance, I charged it for about 4 hours yesterday afternoon and since then I have had a three minute phone conversation, sent a few texts but that's about it and today the battery was in the red warning that it was getting really low. I didn't even go on the internet, take photos or play games since last charged. I have had to charge it every single day because the battery goes so quickly.

Is this just the way it is with the iPhone or do you think mine is faulty?

  1. If you live in an area with poor 3G signal the battery will drain rapidly because the 3G is constantly searching for signal, same goes if you travel alot, the 3G will drain as it connects to the strongest cell tower in the area.

Personally, I'd disable the 3G when you're not using it for web browsing and things like that, infact if you don't use your phone for web browsing then just leave 3G off, I do and I just use the wifi connectivity when I want to surf the net on my iPhone

  2. I don't know about iphones but I know for mobiles there's a cheap battery that constantly needs charging and a much dearer one that last ages without a charge. It maybe that yours has a cheap battery in it, did you get the iphone cheaper than normal?

  3. Give it a week or two before you take the phone back. Batteries sometimes take a few charges to build up a maximum charge to where they last a long time on a single charge.

  4. set your email to check manually so that it isn't searching for e-mails every 5 Min's, also turn off the ask to join networks wireless thing because its always searching and kills the battery too.

also lock the phone so it doesn't go on things when its in your bag. That should help a bit, the batteries are a bit rubbish though especially if you using the ipod and internet

    hope that helps!
