IPod making my car speakers crack?

Question

OK,,,so i bought an iPod shuffle and i am quite happy with it. Only problem is when i plug it into my car (i have a tape adapter) it makes the speakers crack and i have to play with the volume on the iPod and the stereo itself untill it stops. I dont have this problem with the CD player or radio,,,

So how do i fix this,,,is there a better way (aside from installing an AUX port in my car) to get a better sound from my iPod to my car?
