I got the 3rd generation nano in may; i got a new laptop (with Windows Vista) and I connected my brother's iPod Shuffle and it connected fine; but when i tried to connect my nano i got this message:

"An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again."

Any suggestions?

  1. you will most likly need to reformat the ipod. look at some of the forums of apple.com and it will most likly be able to help you if i didn't. and if it doesn't, call 1800-my-apple. then you can get help from an operator. also, are you using itunes? because then you can restore all the stuff right from itunes. ok i hope i helped! :)
