  1. What version is your iTunes? It's probably your iTunes that couldn't detect your iPod due to:

    a.) Outdated version

Is your iPod working? It can be your iPod that needs a new Battery replacement.

Try hooking your iPod on a different computer. If it can be detected, It's Your iTunes that need tweaking.

  2. Blow into the end of the cable that plugs into the computer, restart the iPod, restart iTunes, and AFTER RESTARTING, plug it back in. If this still does not work, try plugging it into a different USB slot, and if it STILL does not work, try plugging a different iPod, Digital Camera, or other USB device into the computer. If nothing works, it's a computer problem, and if the other stuff works, but the iPod still doesn't work (especially if a different iPod worked) and you are sure you tried EVERY USB slot, then it is something wrong with your iPod. In that case, call Apple, their customer support is great! If it is the computer's problem, try to contact the manufacturer and ask them!
