I got an IQ of 126/127. i got an IQ of 127 on my first IQ test and an IQ of 126 on another IQ test. Those were both trusted sites. Anyways I took a school test a few months ago and results were returned to me saying I scored below 120!! I get consistently 90% and I am generally at the top of my class(going into gifted next year)but a few months ago they tested our class on IQ and I was really disappointed that I got below 120. They didn't tell me exactly what I scored I hope it wasn't below 100. Anyways I have been tested 3 times and the first time I got an IQ score of 126, the second time a score of 127, and the third time a score below 120 which i cannot specify

  1. I'm a School Psychology grad student so I administer the IQ test every week. Not sure if you know too much of the technical stuff so I did my best.

The IQ test online should not even count. But if it was the real kind like the Woodcock-Johnson or the adult version of WISC (forgot the name and I should be ashamed of myself) then it would be because you have already taken the test and kinda know the procedure so its bound to be a little easier if they ask the same kinda questions. So..then comes the difference between the scores. When the IQ (cognitive functioning) report comes out it usually gives you a confidence interval and this is the 90% part. Where with 90% confidence your score will lie between x number and x number. Ex. 126 (120-132). So.. depending on many factors your score with 90% confidence will lie between those #s. That's why it changes.

Also your "gifted" program may not only use the IQ score (wouldn't be good if they did) they may look at previous work, weekly test scores, basically how you perform in the class on an weekly basis.

I can get technical, but IQ doesn't affect grades as much as people think. Its also based on your determination and achievement scores. If you are dedicated and a hard worker then you will do well or even better than what your IQ suggests.

  2. It's not a math equation it is only an exam with random questions; and you will get different scores... don't think so black and white... into every life a little gray must fall.

  3. don't worry you are obviously clever anyway :)

  4. Quite honestly, those tests mean nothing because there are subjective and  too many factors such as nerves, time, self esteem, the ability to test well, and general knowledge of the content, come into play.  It could be that you just had a bad test day.  Don't let it bother you.

  5. Online IQ tests are bunk.  They always come out higher than a proper one.

And your IQ has nothing whatsoever to do with how good your grades are, so you may as well put that thought right out of your head... you can have the worst grades in the school and still have an exceptionally high IQ.

  6. Tests you can take on-line are not the same as the tests provided by your school.  Additionally, you may have been more anxious about the test since you weren't taking it in the comfort of your home and taking it at school.

Don't worry about it anyways - it's just a number.  As long as you are able to do well in school, it's really a non-issue.
