1). When's a good time to visit - is April or May too cold? 2). I would like to rent a cottage for a week and maybe drive to sightsee in the days, eat at local restaurants in the evenings, maybe go to local pubs and experience some music. Anybody got any good towns to suggest?

  1. Any one outside Ireland, it's cold all year round.

  2. April is generally wet. May can be a very nice month weather wise especially towards the end of it but in Ireland weather is always a risk. Doolin is a nice town in Co. Clare in the west of Ireland. Lots of sight seeing near by (Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee Caves, the Burren) and some nice pubs. It is also close enough to Lahinch, Fanore and Ballyvaughan. We spent a weekend in Fanore last year at the start of May. It rained solidly, but still a beautiful place. Great surfing in Fanore too.

  3. You will have to take a chance on the weather at any time of year in Ireland.  Last year both April and May had mostly good weather but that is no guarantee that this year will be the same. Just remember to pack some wet weather clothes.

I have included some holiday rental companies.
