HEY COZ MY COUNTRY ie INDIA ...ITS A REPUBLIC....TOTALY INDEPENDENT..

WE DONT HAVE MONARCHY BUT PRESIDENT....BUT WE ARE A MEMBER OF COMMONWEALTH...

I ASKED THIS COZ I DID'NT KNOW THAT THESE NATIONS ARE NOT REPUBLICS....SO A BIT MORE CLARITY ON THE TOPIC WUD BE HELPFUL.....ITS QUITE SHOCKING IN TODAYS WORLD ARRANGEMENT WHEN BRITAIN IS NO LONGER THAT BIG A PLAYER ON WORLD STAGE

Something not understood by most is that Australia is still actually a colony. Not only is the English Queen the head of state, it also has a Governor General.  Apparently a couple of years back the Australians were to vote on the question of Independence, but it was written in such a way everyone thought they would be out of their commonwealth and have all their legal and political systems changed

We're our own countries but basically you could stay still nod to england. We've got the queen on the money and in canada our parliment system is modelled after the english, not sure on australia about that one, but I ould assume so.

Australia still has the Queen but I doubt we will for much longer. The referendum on the monarchy was arranged by Howard to achieve a "no" vote even though the majority of people want a republic. The monarchy in Australia will probably die with the Queen, I cannot see Charles or William lasting long as King of Australia.

These countries are part of the British commonwealth of Nations.the Queen is still head of state and her picture will be always on the money, honey. Don't know why Gandi's on yours ?

India is also part of the commonwealth.

You are correct. Australia is not a Republic. The Queen is officially our head of state, but she has almost no power to affect how the country is run. We have the Queen on our coins, but our banknotes depict famous Australians. There are occasional issues of stamps with the Queen on them, but they are mostly for collectors.

A referendum was held in 1999 as to whether or not we should replace the Queen as head of state with a President who would be appointed by Parliament. That motion was soundly defeated, so we still have the Queen. Many people here actually like having ties to the Queen. Others voted "No" in the referendum because they objected to the idea that politicians would appoint a President instead of the people getting to vote for one.

All these countries are Commonwealth members and the Queen is their head of state. They are independent democracies, they are not controlled by the UK. The Queen has a representative in each one, appointed by that country.

So, yes, in Canada the Queens portrait is on all our money and our stamps. Also on our money are various portraits of our Prime Ministers, landscapes, art works, animals etc.

Canada and Australia are not republics, they are constitutional monarchies.  This means that they recognize the queen as their sovereign, but they have an independent, democratic government of their own.  Most former British colonies, with the exception of India and Pakistan, are members of the Commonwealth, which is now basically a group to foster cooperation between former colonies and the UK.  

My experience has been that most Canadians love their queen and are happy to see her picture.  Remember that Canada and Australia, unlike India, left the British empire on relatively good terms.
