  1. Of Course. Psychology is an academic and applied discipline involving the phenomenological and scientific study of mental processes and behavior. And it may also deal with treatment of mental disorders.

  3. Technically, no.  The medical fields related to the mind are psychiatry and neurology.  A Phd in psychology cannot prescribe medications, and must refer the patient to an M.D. if medication seems to be indicated.

  4. Not really though at times u need to work as a team with physician. Approach of a psychologist is different than a physician. Physician focus more towards diagnosis and prescription whereas psychologist is more towards helping the patient in improving his mental well being wit out medical approach.

    Physician are the one wit medical degree who s qualified to prescribe medication in curing the ailment. Psychiatrist and psychologist have somewht similar approach but psychiatrist is a doctor so he will combine both medication and mental approach.

    Course and degree is entirely different of course between both.
