I AM HAVING A BABY SEP, 22 AND I HAVE TOLD SOME PEOPLE THAT I WANT TO NAME HIM HAIDEN WITH THE I INSTEAD OF A Y, AND SOME OF THEM SAY THAT IS A GIRLY WAY OF SPELLING IT. SHOULD I CHANGE THE SELLING? I DONT REALLY WANT TO BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE HIS NAME ON THE WALL? WHAT DO I DO? DO YOU THINK HE WILL BE MADE FUN OF?

  1. Hayden looks a lot better honestky. Haiden is usually for the girls name because it looks more feminine. I don't think he will be made fun of though. Most people don't know how to spell very well anymore, so they probably wouldn't even notice. Haden is pronounced like Hadden. It doesn't make the "ay" sound. Like I HAD lunch today. The DEN is clean. Had-Den. This is up to you, but it will be his name for the rest of his life. It's kind of worth re-doing the wall for to be honest.

Congrats, and that's my birthday lol!

  2. The spelling definitely makes it look more feminine.

In addition, I would caution you to think before giving your son this name, only because it is becoming more and more popular for girls, and like so many other names before it (Leslie, Courtney, Taylor, McKenzie, etc.), it is bound to end up being thought of as more of a girls' name.

While the name is currently more popular for boys than girls, keep in mind that Hayden was #418 in 2006, and it jumped to the #195 spot the following year.  I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it jump to the Top 100 for 2008, rising steadily after that.

  3. Haiden spelled like that is stupid.  Hayden as a name, in general, is just trendy and overused.

Can you imagine a grandpa named Haiden?  Or a professional businessman?  Or the president of the US?  Or a surgeon?!

  4. Hayden, Haiden, Aiden, Ayden, Jayden, Jaden - I have seen all those names used for both boys and girls irrespective of spelling.

If I were you I'd not use any of the -aydens and find something very different because this crop of kids are going to make us sick of those names in 15 years.

  5. Haden sounds a bit like Hades, which means h**l.

It's not a nice name to start with, however it's spelt.

  6. Do what you want, but regardless of what's on the wall, pick a name that your child will be happy with for life.

When he runs for senate or president, or when he becomes a movie star or used car salesman, or a farmer or CEO, how will he feel?  I personally think HAIDEN, in whatever spelling is too trendy and will fade, but it is your choice and that of your husband.  If unsure, go with something traditional that is easy to spell.

  7. I would go with Hayden, but he's gonna be your baby, so it's really up to you. . . . best wishes xx

  8. no offence, but spelling it with an i is kinda girlie.

  9. I only saw Hayden spelled Hayden, not Haiden

Haiden, does look more girlie than boy

  10. i was going to use the name for a girl, but spell it hayden.  with an i is for a boy... pretty sure.  good luck

found this for you: Haiden means "From the hedged valley" and its origin is English. The gender of this name is for a boy.

  11. First, your question would be a lot easier to read if it weren't in all caps.

HAIDEN was not found in this database. Names that sound similar to HAIDEN:

    HADYN   m   English (Rare)

    HATIM   m   Arabic

    HAYDEN   m & f   English

    HAYDN   m   English (British)

    HAYTHAM   m   Arabic

    HEDDWYN   m   Welsh

    HITOMI   f   Japanese

    HAYDEN  Gender: Masculine & Feminine

    Usage: English

    Pronounced: HAY-dən

From an English surname meaning "hay valley", derived from Old English heg "hay" and denu "valley".

Not too crazy about naming a kid "hay valley". I'd be willing to bet there'll be LOTS of spelling problems. If you like the name, stick with the traditional spelling.

  12. It's different but the name is used for both boy and girl so I would just go with it and tell them to leave you alone.
