  1. No it's not bad, but you're restricted to certain procedures..

  2. No actually the doctor recommends you go to the dentist at least once throughout pregnancy to have your teeth cleaned to prevent gingivitis, pregnancy can cause gingivitis. Just let the dentist know that you are pregnant so they don't do any x-rays that's bad for baby.

  3. my dr recommended that you at least go for a cleaning they can do some work but the work they can do is limited

  4. NO!  Just make sure you tell the dentist that you (or whoever) is pregnant as certain procedures cannot be done due to the effect certain drugs can have on the fetus.  It is actually very important for pregnant women to see the dentist and is reccommended by your OB, as their body quits producing chemicals geared at promoting good dental hygiene and cavity fighters.  Studies now show that the health of your mouth is heavily related to the health of your heart andf baby.

Most pregos experience bleeding gums and their teeth get weaker so if she goes to the detist make sure she tells the dentist and they'll take extra gentle care of her mouth.

A good cleaning is always great!

  5. aslong as you dont get xrays why would it be bad.

  6. not at all. the only thing when i was pregnant i didnt feel comfortable getting x rays even though everyone said it was perfectly safe

  7. I read somewhere one time it is ok as long as it is just a cleaning and nothing else like x-rays, but when I was pregnant my dentist wouldn't even see me until after I delivered.

  8. You can go for a regular check up and have you teeth cleaned but you can't have any x-rays or any procedures that involve the use of anesthetic.

  9. no, especially if it's just for a cleaning.  my denist, however, requires permission from the ob/gyn before he will see a pregnant patient.  procedures requiring novocaine usually have to wait until after the pregnancy because it can induce labor.

  10. no .. but u are restricted on what procedures u can do ... atleast for my dentist i had to get clearance from my gyn on what he could and could not do..

  11. Not at all.

But the dentist should be made aware you are pregnant, as they will need to modify some procedures.
