I'M 15 DPO, AND AM PREGNANT. LAST PERIOD WAS ON AUGUST 6TH. I HAD TWO POSITIVE BLOOD TESTS. ON AUGUST 4TH MY HCG WAS 1924, YESTERDAY THE 5TH IT WAS 2210 (ONLY A 286 INCREASE) PER BABY-MED.COM THAT IS A SLOWER THAN NORMAL RISE. FOR THE LAST 7 DAYS I'VE BEEN HAVING SOME VERY LIGHT BROWN SPOTTING (NONE YET TODAY, SO FAR) AND SOME MILD BACK PAIN W/ MILD CRAMPING, NOT IN ANYWAY HEAVY, BUT ENOUGH FOR ME TO KNOW IT'S THERE. THE ER DOCTOR SAID I AM A HIGH RISK FOR MISCARRIAGE BECAUSE OF THE SPOTTING AND SHOULD KEEP HAVING MY HCG LEVELS CHECKED, AND AN ULTRASOUND. I'M TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE, BUT I NEED SOME EXPERIENCES, ADVICE... IS SOME SPOTTING NORMAL IN EARLY PREGNANCY? DOES IT ALWAYS END IN MISCARRIAGE? HERES MY CHART, HOPE IT HELPS... THANKS

  1. Well, the brown spotting means that it's old blood.  That could just be from the implantation (but I doubt it seeing as how high your pregnancy levels are.)  I would definitely keep getting the pregnancy levels checked.  I had a brown discharge for a few weeks and then started bleeding and miscarried.  I would try not to stress about it because that will make the pregnancy harder.  I know it's easier said than done, but remember "what will be, will be."  Have faith and remember that God blessed you with the baby.  Bleeding does not always end in miscarriage.  Some women spot and even have their periods throughout their pregnancies.  Good luck to you!

  2. Im not positive but I have heard that some people do have some bleeding while pregnant. I have heard that it is not as heavy as your period but some women do have some vaginal bleeding while pregnant. My mother and I were just having this convo the other night and she told me that one of her friends had her period until her 5th month of pregnancy. Best of luck!!!

  3. A lot of women experience some sort of spotting during their pregnancy.  It sounds like you have taken all of the necessary precautions - by seeing the doctor and getting blood work done.  Mild cramping is normal also - your body is changing tremendously. I just went through a miscarriage that started similar - but there was a significant difference in the bleeding and cramping when the miscarriage actually happened. If the bleeding stops or doesn't get any worse - then there is probably nothing to worry about.  If it is a miscarriage - the bleeding will begin to be heavier and red (like a period).  Also, the cramping will be unbearable! You definitely would know the difference.

With all that said - if you have had a sonogram and they have detected a heart beat, the chances of the pregnancy being healthy are incredibly high. I hope this helps! Best of luck to you and your little one!

  4. Hi Ava, well I've definitely been in your shoes. I had 2 miscarriages prior to having my two children now and have experienced quite a bit in that aspect. I actually lost one of my twins from my first successful pregnancy at 9 weeks but still carried the other twin to term. From my experience some spotting and very mild cramping is common, however, if you begin to see heavier than normal bleeding (that means red blood) and bad cramping, you could very well be having a miscarriage. I had a fibroid so I was high risk for miscarriage. In your situation I would remain positive and DO NOT WORRY. Your body responds to every bit of stress and it could effect your pregnancy. So relax and let nature take its course. You need to find an OB/GYN or if you have one, schedule an appointment to see him/her so that they can monitor your pregnancy closely. If you cannot afford one, there are programs through the government (Medicaid) for people that are indigent. Many doctors offices also offer a sliding fee scale for those that are low income or cannot afford insurance. Be sure to take care of yourself, meaning no stress, eating properly and staying off your feet as much as possible. I was high risk with my first child so I know what you are going through. Good luck!
