My new dentist has replaced 3 fillings, but they've been nothing but trouble, I can't eat anything hard like crisps, I have to chew most things at the front of my mouth before putting food anywhere near the new fillings.. He's said on several occassions that they must still be too 'high' and has drilled them down a little but last time I went he said if it wasn't right now, he'd have to put in grey/silver fillings! I felt that was a bit of a threat really as I'm only 25 and don't want to open my mouth and have grey teeth showing!! I've never had any problems with fillings done by my previous dentist, everything was normal after any work done but I go to this guy and all the work he's done (these 3 fillings) are just wrong! I've got an appointment this morning and don't know what I should say to him!! Help!!

  1. Now why would you say bad things about Cowboys when referring to a crappy dentist?  That's insulting.  Just go get another dentist and be done with it.  Don't dis on Cowboys.

  2. I'm interested to know how you got on.

    1) fillings are too high if, when you chew normally you can feel them or it feels like a little seed stuck on the top of the tooth, or the dentist finds a high spot with articulating paper (blue or red paper you chew on).

    2) sometimes it takes a week or so for the filled teeth to settle down

    3) some times teeth are infected (nerves inflammed) that's why they are tender to perccusion (ie chewing)

    4) Amalgam fillings actually last much longer  than others

    5) pain depends what type of lining he used under filling and how deep the cavity was to begin with. goodluck.

  3. Unfortunatly it sounds like he isn't a good denist and is probably just in it for the money. No dentist should ever threaten a patient. No how many time you go in for a problem, they should always be willing a ready to help you take care of it. I would recommend switching dentists
