IS Margarito the biggest test of cotto's career?

Cotto has fought great fighters like SHane Mosley and other fighters like Ricardo Torres, paulie Malinaggi, alfonso gomez, and Zab judah. Margarito is a viscious puncher, he hits hard, throws alot, is always on your chest, and makes you fight 180 seconds for all 12 rounds. Cotto has faught mosley but mosley is not a "in" fighter, margarito is the definition of an in fighter and puts the pressure on. So do you think that cottos toughest test will be antonio margarito?

Lets get it straight. Mosley, Judah was a tought fights for Cotto. Judah was half a boxer, Mosley is just a good fighter and not a boxer. The other guys was nobody's. They beat D class fighter to get there record. Margartio has some advantage and disavantage's and so do Cotto. Margarito doesn't use his reach advantage, not good defense, not a good jabber and throws wild punches. Cotto still doesn't have a answer for the right hand over the shoulder, upper cuts and  not good defense. Yes he beat Gomez but if you look a the fight, without getting caught up over the crowd, Gomez was able to hit Cotto but didn't hurt him. Cotto was suppose to look good against a pretender. Cotto has a week chin and tends to run out of gas late rounds. Mosley had him on his bike around the 9th, 10th and 11th. Margarito has a good chin, body puncher, high work rate and keeps comming. Cotto is learing how to box, use the jab and  good body puncher. It's going to depend on there game plan. If Margarito can use his reach advantage, he could come out with a win. If Cotto could box and move, he could come out with a win. Cotto has stamina issue's and Margarito doesn't. Margarito need to use his jab not a flicker. I believe Margarito will win because of some things, just like I think Cott will win because of some things. One thing I will say, Margarito has being waiting a long time, to get back on top and will die before he lose another fight. That's just the attitude he brings. To him its blood, guts and war time. Who ever wins, do you think they will be too busted up to fight PBF?

Margarito throws a lot of punches for all 12 rounds...this is cottos biggest test of his career,he needs to beat Margo to be looked at as a high level fighter...and get a chance at a huge fight with maybe mayweather.....

i think so and all the guys besides Margarito that you listed were small fighters and most were 140 pound fighters or smaller coming up to 147....Margarito is a big Welterweight who could easily fight at 154 or Middleweight and his size will make the difference in the fight... Cotto picks his fights very cafefully and pretty much every fight he was in he was favored to win ....He avoids big fighters and Margarito will show why .... he will do little damage with power shots and will be fighting defensively most of the fight ...Margarito will overwhelm Cotto with punches and the Size difference will become evident from the 7th round on.... i think it will be a very enteraining fight but Margarito will probably KO Cotto inside 12 rounds.....so to anwer Margarito is the biggest test in a lot of different ways...the best fighter(in his prime) he has fought, the biggest fighter(physically) he has ever fought , the best chin he has ever fought , and the hardest puncher....so lets see if Cotto can pass this on or not

Dude you hit it right on the head Margarito is Cottos real test. Cotto beat Judah and Mosley both good fighters to have on a record but both guys best days were past them. Judah was comming off a lay off and still managed to bust Cottos face up and go 10 rounds . Mosley hadnt been the same since losing to Winky Twice shane did rack up a winning streek but it was with B level guys Estrada,Collozo,Vargas, nobody really young and hungry. I think HBO has did a great Job at fooling fans into thinking Cotto can outbox Margarito. Cotto has boxing skills dont get me wrong but only when he fights B or C level guys once he gets in trouble he will revert back to his old habits. Margartio is like a modern day Julio Cesar Chavez you have to be a supreme A list boxer or have some overwhemling disadvantage over him to outbox him (Paul Willimas being Fast and Tall). Cotto's boxing skill are ok but Margartio has the type of pressure that would over come mediorce boxing skills. Cotto cant hit Margartio and hurt him or stop him from comming foward and evuntally will have to stand and fight Margartio. Cottos chin has been called him to question Judah and Mosley Both hurt Cotto nither being as relentless or powerfull as Margartio. Margartio  is going to beat Cotto he has learned his lessson form Willimas to get started early and he will come forward test Cottos chin and boxing skill both are mediore and Margarto will score a late stoppage or win a decision.

Margartio is the welterweights unsoung hero he is the true test to the throune that Mayweather hold not cotto and Tony will beat Cotto and Give Floyd a h**l of a fight.

Physically speaking....Yes.  Margarito will have height and reach advantages that will be unlike Cotto has faced before.

The problem with making the claim that Margarito is the biggest test for Cotto is that you can also make the claim that Cotto is Margarito's biggest test.  Cotto has fought the better opposition. Margarito has had adversity and survived.

With Williams recent loss and PBF's non-participation, this might just be the fight for welterweight superiority.  

While Margarito has physical advantages, his style will not make it hard for Cotto to find him.  Margarito's reaction to Williams defintely shows that he can be lulled into fighting his opponents fight .....he gave into Williams the first half of the fight.  

Cotto has not shown any signs of being knocked out of his gameplan and seems more disciplined in this regard.  Cotto is also an inside fighter.  

If Margarito fights without using his advantages in punch output and reach, this will be one heck of a fight.  I'm betting he doesn't use his advantages....but that's all I am willing to lay money on.

I'm just glad that the welter's have been working things out without waiting on PBF to step into the mix.

Yeah he probably is because Judah is very over rated and mosley is on the second half of his career. This fight will definetly test Cotto's chin

And after watching margarito fight cintron I will say there is no doubt Cotto will pick him apart, unless margarito changes his fighting style drastically. Margarito is to sloppy of a puncher and bad at blocking body shots mainly body shots and he would have a hard time taming Cotto's jabs regardless of the height advantage. Because Margarito is so much taller it will just leave his stomach more open to Miguel's nasty left hook to the body.
