MY DAUGHTER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MILD CEREBRAL PALSY A LITTLE OVER 1 YR OF AGE. SHE IS 2 NOW AND WALKS OKAY (SHE STILL A BIT WOBBLY). DOES THIS DIAGNOSIS STAY WITH HER FOR LIFE AND DOES SHE 'GROW OUT OF' HAVING CP?

  1. The diagnosis will stay with her medically for life. When she starts school it is up to you to continue the "label" if you feel that she needs extra services in school  


  2. A CP diagnosis means that at some point, there was a drop in oxygen to her brain.  This can result in anything from a mild speech or congnative dely to the more profound special needs often associated with it.  She will not grow out of it.  They can modify the diagnosis if that is determined to be applicable, but generally it will stay with her as there can be other health issues that may not appear until later.  Weather she will need support services or special ed will be determined as she enters school, but if there should be no issue with her being in a traditional classroom .

  3. you cannot grow out of CP---but you can compensate--so it is not noticable.......
