Question:

IS TNA DROWNING? WILL THEY EVER RISE TO THE TOP? ?

It's sad to see the direction TNA is going in. TNA isn't what it use to be. They have ridiculous story lines, stupid gimmicks, and to many style matches. TNA talks about hoping for higher ratings. There ratings haven't shot sky high because of there direction of there product. If I was never introduced to pro wrestling and I saw TNA for the first time I wouldn't want to see TNA again. I am a huge TNA fan, but if we ever want to see another Monday night war, TNA needs to step there game up. They have a couple of good stars, but they need to introduce more. TNA President Dixie Carter believes having Sting with the company gives them prestige and helps them make business deals, even though his pay rightfully isn't justified based on the effect he has had on ratings and PPV buyrates. Others within the company feel his price isn't' worth what he brought to the table. Should TNA let Sting go? What TNA should do instead of paying Sting all that money is invest it in ROH stars and bring them to TNA. ROH is sick. Have you seen it? Sting is financially secure at this point in his career and having made lots of money during his WCW days he has used it to invest in real estate holdings in Southern California among other things. What do you think? Just my opinion. There's no need for you to be rude and talk crazy.

  1. Drowning absolutely yes. Rise to the top? At this point NO! Unless they hire me as G.M. I have ideas but there not for free.

TNA started out in the right direction at a time. Lately they have abandoned the idea of NON STOP ACTION. I guess due to pressure of ratings, competition and perphaps running out of ideas has them going the god awful WWE route. Much talk lil action, ridiculous gimmicks and nonsense storylines. Sting should give more to the brand or step away. Which I would prefer. They should stop pushing established stars from the WWE and push their own talent. Finding new stars could help too. Joe is not the future of TNA. Horrible body and even worse mic skills. Get AJ Styles back to himself. That AJ/Angle/Karen storyline is totally ridiculous and has no place in wrestling. AJ has legitimate talent and doesn't need to be reduce to goofball gimmicky story bits. Stop with the superhero gimmicks. The craze and derange gimmicks. Judas Medias was totally unbelievable and Abyss has gotten way past boring. What a total misuse of a potential. The guy can actually move for a big guy compared to a stiff like Baptista or JBL. (What a horrible match I might add between him and CM Punk last night on Raw is Poor.) Great commentator but total stiff in the ring. Back to TNA, speaking of commentators that DON WEST is annoying! Tone him down a bit. Overhypes action way to much where there isn't much going on. They need to extend there roster. Pretty tiring seeing the same guys week after week. The stars of TNA get way too much time. Let the little guy shine a bit. I'm still looking for a guy like Primetime to get some burn. He's a guy that actually produce in the ring. I mean it is called WRESTLING. Using guys like Booker T, Angle, Christian and other promotion rejects as your headliners makes TNA looked clueless, desperate and second rate.

The future doesn't look good for TNA if they don't change soon.

  2. TNA's problem can be summed up in 2 words....Vince Russo. Storylines started going downhill as soon as he was hired.

  3. dude tna has been terrible with storylines and in-ring work if they keep it up they will go down . . .

  4. Impact is not going to gain ratings with WOMEN matches as the main event.

  5. I've always enjoyed WWE more anyways to be honest although I totally agree with yoo.

  6. well I think TNA has been a lot better than raw smackdown as of late. but I do think that ecw is going down unless the wwe does something 2 make it better or make it how it was before they went bankrupt

  7. Eh I enjoyed it for a little while when they had some good wrestling matches.  Then I noticed they were starting to copy wwe with all the storylines which were very lame.  Also, sharkboy copying stone cold completely stupid.  If they would of stuck with good wrestling matches it could of survived.

  8. i hate to admit it but yeah, i think tna is going downhill, at least at this point in time.. but its never too late for them to devise new & better ways to improve their show that will eventually boost up their ratings.. with regards to sting, yeah i think they should let him go.. besides, he's apparently a redundancy for the company & he isn't making anything remarkable at all..

  9. Your opinion has some valid points, but I don't think ROH is the answer to star power or draw.  While I'll begrudgingly admit that ROH has some decent wrestlers, a majority of the worthwhile talents in ROH have already been weaseled away by both the WWE and TNA.  Guys like Samoa Joe and CM Punk are being pushed to world title status in both companies, and it doesn't make that much of a significant difference in either, so what makes you believe someone like Nigel McGuinness, Bryan Danielson, Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, or Jimmy Jacobs could come in and turn things around?  Outside of the 5% of wrestling fans who know who these people are, I doubt anyone would care to see them work.  Heck, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, and Alex Shelley were all in the company at one point, three men I consider to be MAJOR ROH names, and they did nothing for the ratings.  Talent doesn't equal ratings.  It's a sad fact, but a true one.

In a way, I agree with Dixie, but in a way, I do see your point.  Sting does bring prestige to the roster, but prestige doesn't necessarily mean buyrates or ratings.  While Sting's star really hasn't drug in too many fans, his presence really does make the roster look legitimate.  Then again, you could say the same about a Kurt Angle or a Christian Cage, so you do have a point there, but I also believe that they do benefit from having someone with such business savvy, experience, and legacy on their roster.

While I agree that some of TNA's booking decisions are quesitonable, I think their biggest problem is the fact that they're on Spike.  The only advertising TNA gets is on the network it's already on, and odds are, if you're watching Spike you're either already watching TNA or you're watching UFC, in which case, half the demographic may tune in to watch TNA.  Other than those two major ratings pullers, Spike has nothing.  If people aren't watching the only network in which TNA is advertised, odds are, they don't know it exists.  While Spike's been very kind to TNA, and very encouraging, I think the next big step for TNA is going to a bigger network, like Fox, who has offered a spot in the past.  That way, when you're on, let's say, FX, your show can be advertised on regular Fox, and any other affiliate station of the company.

Another big drawback, outside of booking, which may reinforce this stereotype in a lot of ways, is the fan's general attitude towards TNA.  If you're a WWE fan and you're not watching TNA, odds are it's because you think it's full of WWE rejects, which is an unfair assessment considering WWE doesn't necessarily fire talentless people.  And it's even more insulting when people like Christian Cage and Kurt Angle choose to leave the WWE under their own fruition, and even moreso insulting when someone like Sting has declined multiple offers from the WWE to join their ranks based on moral reasons.

I'll admit that TNA has it's problems, but a majority of them have little to do with the product or the roster, and a lot to do with their appearance within the mainstream fan's eyes, and their network.

  10. they may get better if wwe goes on a complete and utter downward spiral

  11. Yeah, agreed. TNA has the potential to be so much better. They should just let Sting go so he could hopefully change his mind about the WWE & have one last run with the company. I would love to see a Taker & Sting rivalry before these 2 retire.
