  1. What's wrong with God Save the Queen?

I personally love it when England play Lichtenstein - Their national anthem runs to the same tune, so the English fans don't know when to boo...

  2. Fiona and a few others seem to be clueless on life in Uk. As N. Ireland is part of Uk the National Anthem should be played. Scotland as part of the Uk should respect it doubly. Any disrespect shows those people to be foolish, naive, irresponsible and should be deported to somewhere else.

  3. It had nothing to do with it being Northern Ireland. That anthem "God Save The Queen" will always be rightfully booed.

Also the anthem once contained the line "rebellious Scots to crush". An utter disgrace of an anthem.

You have your own anthem and there would be no booing.

  4. need to create your own national anthem like we did.

  5. It was simply rudeness from a sick minority of the Scot's fans. The real Scots (Sir Knights, Brethren, band members and supporters) will be travelling over to Northern Ireland for the Last Saturday demonstrations where they will stand for the National Anthem following the entertainment in the hundreds of clubs, pubs and halls next Saturday night.

  6. I was singing at the top of my voice, so didn't hear the morons booing. Great night afterwards in the pubs in central Glasgow.

  7. Fiona hit the problem fairly on the head.

If your only solution is join forces with England, then you do not deserve devolved government.

Incidentally "Scotch" is a drink. We are SCOTS. Those who call the Scottish nation "Scotch" merely demonstrate their ignorance.

  8. No . It was disrespectful and I am afraid that is not surprising . You have so many fine Irish songs and tunes , that to play GSTQ is the pitz. The fact you once played at Windsor Park perhaps gives a thin excuse !

No. This is 2008 not 1908 . There are no Carsons on the horizon ! Chose an appropriate anthem that reflects your proud heritage which is on your island .

  9. Huh?......Answerers....Whats the problem with God Save the Queen??  We are a constituent country of the UK so with all due respect and I honestly do not mean any ill-feeling by this, but why would we want an Irish song?

  10. The Scots were booing the English National Anthem AND RIGHTLY SO.

If the Irish insist on playing the English anthem, then they must expect such a reception. Listen to the words - is there anything in there that supports Ireland or the Irish way of life? NO. It is all about the English, and have not the English not done enough damage to Ireland? So why play their anthem?

Compare this to Rugby Internationals, where the TRUE Irish spirit is celebrated. No English anthems there!

If the Northern Ireland FA wish to promote the activities of a country that has progressively raped its industry, subjorgated its people and sought to eradicate its very identity, then your must expect booing from nations that seek to throw off such medieval shackles.

  11. Yeah well the Scotchies are usually up our a*ses.

Scotchies, please stay at home, the girls are ugly as sin and your accent goes through my head  :))
