Question:

IS getting hair in your eye that bad?

Recently I gave my cat treats, cleaned up her food area which was odd for me (usually my mom does it) so instead of following my mom around she has been following me... which would be ok but her hair is everywhere (especially on my pillow where she has been nesting) and I constantly think stuff is in my eye, a few times I was right and I had to pick it out... I'm gonna give her the boot soon but could there be any long term damage if I missed a hair in my eye and it stayed there?

  1. Depends.... Normally, no, it's not going to be that bad for you --- although it could FEEL pretty bad.

But if you  wear contact lenses, it could be a different story. If the hair gets trapped under the lens, the normal action of the eye won't be able to "flush" it out, and it could scratch the cornea. That still won't necessarily cause permanent damage, but it could cause enough damage to be really uncomfortable (lots of pain whenever you look at bright light, for instance) for a few days.

It would be a good idea to have a "clean" area that's nowhere near the cat, and to keep her away from your sleeping area. When you brush her, you might want to take out contact lenses (if you wear them) first, just to be on the safe side. Suggestion: why not brush the cat right before both of you go to bed, her in her bed and you in yours? :-)

  2. no actually its u shouldnt make a big deal out of cat hair in the eye

cuz the liquid in your eye is meant to keep bacteria out & if the hair doesnt fall out on its own then it will usually just desinegrate after awhile :)

but if the cats shedding fur is such a problem then you should get one of those special animal brushes at the pet store that help get rid of extra hair falling out

but since you are getting rid of her then theres no need to worry

    :)
