The US is founded on an idea of rugged individualism.

Give an example of how a big business owner or someone's action in the corporate world is not based on greed, also please contrast your answer with your knowledge or experience of another culture.Thanks.

  1. Greed is a major human trade.

  2. Not greed, but they are selfish and to have their self interest, they can sacrifice others and shall not harm themselves.

  3. America has no lock on self gratification.

  4. If you go to Canada, the people there act very calm and very, very conservative, as compared to the US. In the US people act  sociophobic and anti-social, as if they're unsociable because they're in competition with you because they're greedy.

  5. Bill Gates, George Soros, Oprah Winfrey all represent billionaires with a conscience.  Greed is more often the province of Republicans.

  6. No. It's  a human trait, since time beginning.

  7. Yes.

    Rugged Individualism is not greed.

Steve Jobs purposefuly didn't copyright "windows" so that everyone could use them (of course Bill Gates, a true American,  went out and copyrighted it so Jobs would have to PAY to use his own invention.)

I don't have enough knowledge to distinguish, say, the Japanese corporate monolith from greed, or Chinese economic particularism as like or unlike American corporate greed.

So, I can't really answer your question, sorry.

  8. Any large business corporation becomes greedy after a certain point. This happens across the world and is not exclusive to America. There just happen to be more companies in America.

  9. i think greed is a major HUMAN trait.

but i think americans choose to have a system of government most suited to individual greed than others.

i find greed is like emotional every human has it, but when it comes to voting or thinking logically about the world, the american voters end up selecting a more individualistic system, that favors the wealthy, that favors an ideology of care about yourself and nobody else. but obviously there are many americans that aren't this way. as i recall american elections are generally quite close, and if obama wins, i think the american government will be much less this way. but i'm not sure they will get over their racism for that.

  10. ...yes, it is corporate america who runs the USA...

  11. in my opinion, judging a person on simply his ethnic or social background is impossible, though influence from the state is great in the United States, you cannot simply say that all americains are greedy. There is a terrible prejudice going around about Arabs, everyone is scared for their lives when encountering one of these people when, in fact, the individual might be the most up-beat, conversive man you have ever talked to.

    hope this helps.
