IS it good idea to buy hybrid car!!!!!?

I have new 07 Camary, milage is 24 average, will it be a good idea to switch to Hybrid car as I drive almost 300 miles every week??

Im driving about the same as you and will not get a hybrid yet. perhaps in 2 -5 years when the prices are more reasonable and Ive gotten some value out of my toyota. the amount of $$$ loss in the sale or trade of your existing toyota makes it easy to keep vs the extra 10mpg you'd get with the hybrid.

I would say no, it is not worth it.

-you will lose money on trading in such a new vehicle

-you will have at least another year of payments now

-you pay $50 a week now in gas

-the hybrid getting 37mpg or so will cost you $32 a week

-that is all of $70+ a month in saving

-your new loan is probably at least that much more per month

-insurance will probably be more on the hybrid

-car tax will be more

-sales tax will hit you for up to 3-5%

And for all this talk about how "green" hybrid are, what about when it comes time to dispose of that battery that has all those nasty chemicals in it?
