IS it normal to have more swelling after appendectomy surgery?

My husband had an appendectomy five days ago and the swelling is getting worse not better is this normal? I could use somehelp fulll advice

  1. does he have a fever? is the incision red? is it hot to the touch? if not, then there is no signs of infection. some people swell more than others. and some people heal slower than others, he will get better eventually. if he is in a lot of pain, give him a couple of tylenol, or the pills the doctor gave him for pain. of course, if there are signs of infection, get him to the doctor. you could even put some ice on the incision, that will help get the swelling down, and if that is too uncomfortable for him, put some heat on it, not direct-wrap the hot water bottle in a dish towel or something. use whatever makes him feel better. ok?
