Alpha is correct. It has not closed. The management have just officially changed the name to "Ireland West" airport. No one here in Ireland that I know has really started using the new name, it's mainly a PR stunt to change the branding. They felt that potential tourists would be more likely to book online to a destination called "Ireland West" than a destination called "Knock". I don't know if I agree with them. If anything Knock airport is busier than it has ever been. The code for Knock airport used on tickets and luggage lablels (don't know what it is)has not changed despite the name being changed from Knock to Ireland west.
